Going Beyond - Toddlers explore the Beach
The toddlers’ first walk to the beach was a really successful and enjoyable experience, giving them a great chance to take their learning beyond the setting. The children were excited and curious as they explored the beach and took in everything around them. They had lots of fun engaging with the natural environment and confidently tried out new experiences.
They enjoyed making marks in the sand using sticks, experimenting with different shapes and lines. This supported their early mark making skills and encouraged creativity. The children also loved spotting boats out at sea and talking about what they could see, which helped build their language and communication skills.
There was plenty of physical development too, as the children worked on both fine and gross motor skills. They carefully scooped and built sandcastles, developing hand control and coordination, while also using larger movements as they walked and explored the uneven sand. The children also enjoyed working together, sharing tools and ideas as they played.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience that encouraged exploration, imagination, and confidence, while supporting lots of different areas of their development in a fun and meaningful way.
