Risk Benefit at the Beach
This month our Pre-school team leader and Risk Benefit champion have been working together to plan how our children can further access the local community to engage in risk benefit.
Each week children are invited to take part in a trip to the beach, our Pre-school children are given the choice to attend or stay at nursery for other play opportunities. At the beach children can explore the wide open space, running freely and making marks in the sand. We take our beach cart with us fully of our buckets, spades, balls and parachute to support our learning. We love finding different things at the beach, and we can safely put them back in the cart to take home to nursery again.
Children complete a risk assessment before going to the beach, talking about the possible dangers and things they can do to keep safe - as a result our children are becoming risk aware. Our beach trip photo book allows all children to reflect on the experiences in our story corner, sharing their learning and experience with peers.
